Simone Ashley Embraces the Sheer-Skirt Trend at the Bridgerton Season 2 Premiere

We're so ready for all things Kate Sharma this season.

Simone Ashley already told Glamour in our March cover story that she's mentally ready for all the extra attention she’ll be getting once Bridgerton season two hits. But I wasn't mentally ready for the knock-out red-carpet look she wore to the show's premiere event.

Dressed in Gucci, Ashley was the evening's “diamond” in a lace two-piece from the brand's prefall 2022 presentation. Trading in her corset and Empire-waist dresses for a modern crop top, the Sex Education actor also showed love for a good glove moment, with lace gloves that matched her sheer maxi skirt, which was adorned with floral appliqués and sequins. The Gucci set featured a layer of lace underneath in the form of tights. The overall vibe feels romantic and in tune with the show's tone, while still looking fresh and cool.

Season two of Bridgerton is focused on Ashley, who leads as Kate Sharma, the unexpected love interest of Anthony Bridgerton (played by Jonathan Bailey). In her cover story interview with Glamour, the British actor shared that her character isn’t exactly interested in the eldest Bridgeton sibling at first: “It’s a very interesting enemies-to-lovers story. They have a lot of friction at the beginning because they resonate with whatever traits that annoy each other within themselves, and then that breeds chemistry.”

Ashley was seen at the premiere alongside other cast members, including Bailey and costar Charithra Chandran, who plays her younger sister, Edwina Sharma.

The Bridgerton premiere event featured an astroturf green carpet with a floral background that Ashley prominently stood out against in all the best ways. Her sleek black hair was given the middle-part treatment by hairstylist Daya Ruci and pulled back to show off the statement earrings that no doubt caught every photographer's flash.

Take one look at Ashley’s Instagram page, and you’ll see an abundance of bright colors and bold looks. With this black-and-white (and some velvet green trimming) look, she let her makeup bring the bold color. Makeup artist Alex Babsky used all Pat McGrath cosmetics to create Ashley's scarlet eye shadow look with a focus on the strawberry shade to match her subtly flushed cheeks.

We’re expecting many more major red-carpet moments from Ashley—and her stylist Rebecca Corbin-Murray—with whatever future projects she works on. In the same Glamour interview, she spoke about her future in the industry. “I’m still very young, so to be given that kind of power to breed my own opportunities and make things happen can feel a bit weird,” she said. “But this year onward, I’d like to keep my foot on the gas.”

Season two of Bridgerton premieres March 25 on Netflix.
